SuggestionsThe University Libraries welcome your comments and suggestions. Check below for prior suggestions and our responses. Make a SuggestionPrior Suggestions & ResponsesFebruary 2007 The courtesy notices indicate that books can be renewed online by clicking on "view your own record" but this link is not apparent to the user. And, more importantly, there is no clear direction for locating such a link. Thank you for your thoughtful suggestion about the text of CSUEB Libraries’ courtesy notices. We are going to revise the text so there are more specific directions for those who wish to renew books online.
November 2006 Print card add funds machine in lower mall took my money. If you experience any problems with print cards, printing or photocopying in the Library, please consult with circulation desk staff. They can issue you a refund slip when appropriate. See below for more comments about print cards. The computers in the center of the Library lobby (Haystac) should be reserved / digitally restructed for Library purposes. I should not have to wait to look up a book because the guy in front of me is MySpacing. A dedicated "quick research & print" station is located on the reference desk. This computer is dedicated to quick academic uses. You may use this computer to look up a book. The Library does not attempt to distinguish between academic and non-academic work on our computers. It is possible that a student may be using or studying MySpace as part of an assignment for a class. Thus, we will not restrict use or access on our computers. Broader guidance to computing on campus may be found in the CSUEB Computer Use Policy. As a transfer student I would appreciate an orientation to the Library. I was told it was only offered to freshmen. The Library offers two different credit courses - LIBY 1210 a required course for incoming first year students, and LIBY 1551 for anyone (other than 1st year students) who wishes to enroll. LIBY 1551 will be offered Winter Quarter 2007 - check the class listings online at http://www.csuhayward.edu/schedule/ . Fix the CSUEB website to make it easier to get to online student services (not a menu off of a menu). Although the Library does not control the campus web site (contact the campus University Advancement Department about that), we are in the process of updating our web site. We have already held focus groups with students and faculty and will be looking for more input soon.
October 2006 Stay open, fer cryin' out loud! OK, we will! Check out the Library's new extended hours, beginning November 1. Don't kick me out 1/2 hour before the Library closes. Library staff like to begin the process of notifying people about closing time in advance. We begin to make the rounds 1/2 hour before closing time so that no one will be caught by surprise. We want to give you the chance to check out that last book or print that last page before closing. You need not leave the building until closing time. Is there any way the disabled peoples can get down to the first floor beside using the "stairway" or the "elevator"? What if there's a fire and how can those disable peoples escape? I'm going to be a junior soon and i dont see any change in the library In case of an emergency, all emergency exits will be employed. On the Upper Mall, this would include, the Far East doors, the north stairwell door, the west door that connects to Warren Hall, and the emergency exit doors that open up to the outside stairs. Building Safety Assistants (BSAs) are trained to escort wheelchair bound people to the nearest exit. Should the exit be close to a staircase, either a BSA or a volunteer will be asked to stay with that person until two trained people can lift the person out of the chair and carry him./her down the stairs and out of the building. why dont u keep the library open all night like at sfsu! one section only for all-nighters and a computer lab for all nighters as well We're heading in that direction. Beginning in November, 2006, the Hayward campus library and learning commons hours will be extended on a trial basis by two hours five nights a week. We'll be open until 12:00 midnight Monday through Thursday and 10:00pm on Sundays. We'll keep Saturday hours as they are for now, but will watch closely to see whether it makes sense to extend Saturday hours as well. Please get a new printing card system or keep Xerox repaired (new $20.00 are not new anymore).
September 2006 Library should extend hours. Especially for weekend. On Saturday, the library open just from 11:00 to 5 pm. The hours is less than library. The university has to give students the environment to study. I suggest it is open from 9:00 to 9:00 pm on Saturday. On Sunday, 9:00 am to 11:00 pm. We agree! Beginning in November, 2006, library hours will be extended on a trial basis by two hours five nights a week. We'll be open until 12:00 midnight Monday through Thursday and 10:00pm on Sundays. Saturdays tend to be the slowest days in the library, with the fewest number of visitors. We'll keep Saturday hours as they are for now, but will watch closely to see whether it makes sense to extend Saturday hours as well.
