Current Responsibilities:
Administrative Head of University Library
(M.L.S., Brigham Young University; M.A., University of Nevada, Las Vegas; B.A. Seoul National University) has been the University Librarian at Cal State East Bay since 2000. Prior to joining CSU East Bay, she served the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, in various capacities, where she began in 1968 as an assistant cataloger, and ultimately became the Associate Dean of Libraries. Her articles have appeared in publications, such as Library Hi-Tech and the The Reference Librarian. Additionally, she completed an unpublished manuscript, Oral History Interview with Sook-ja Kim of the Kim Sisters, funded by the Nevada Humanities Committee, as part of the Las Vegas Women in Gaming and Entertainment Oral History Project.
She was the recipient of the Jim McPhee Librarian of the Year Award in 2000, and has received multiple grants, including a $10,000 LSCA Grant for her work on the Nevada Women's Archives Project, a $100,000 Keck Foundation Grant for UNLV Libraries Retrospective Conversion Project, and a $230,917 Title II-D Combination Grant from the U.S. Deptartment of Education for her role a Co-Principal Investigator with Carol A. Parkhurst on the Nevada Academic Libraries Information System (NALIS) Project.
Ms. Kwon has made many presentations pertaining to library design and its connection to learning, as well as to media and methods or organization. The Korean Education Research and Information Services, Seoul National University Libraries, and Korea University Libraries, have all utilized Ms. Kwon's consulting services. She holds the following professional certificates: The ACRL/Harvard Leadership Institute, from the Harvard Graduate School of Education; the Leadership Master Graduate from the Rapport Leadership Institute, Las Vegas, Nevada; and the Advanced Management Program Certificate from Miami University.
