Current and Previous Positions:

Reference/Instruction Librarian, California State University, East Bay, 2006-Present. Responsible for instruction (two-credit information literacy class and individual classes for the English Department), reference (including chat and IM reference), collection development, and liaison duties with the English Department (2006-present) and Chemistry Department (2007-present). Also responsible for campus copyright education and compliance, and some library publicity and marketing. University-wide and faculty governance responsibilities include membership on the Integrated Marketing Communication Committee, and chair of the campus-wide Committee on Academic Planning and Review, 2007-2008, member 2006-2007. Library committee responsibilities include chair, Library Publicity Committee (2006- ), member, Library Web Team (2006- ), member, Library Faculty Affairs Committee (2007-2008), member, Library Technical Services Committee (2006-2007). In addition, I support our campus-wide faculty development office by conducting and participating in writing circles.

Associate University Librarian, California State University, East Bay, 2002-2006. Deputy University Librarian and Associate Dean during the absence of the University Librarian/Dean. Significant library duties included managing technical services, chairing the Library Planning Task Force, spearheading Library promotion and public relations efforts, systems oversight (2004-2005), shepherding staff positions through human resources, and developing the library's web pages on copyright. University-wide duties included membership in the University Information Technology Committee,, the CSUH-WASC Planning Team, the campus-wide Integrated Marketing Communication Committee, the Campus Life Planning Committee, and initiating and leading campus copyright education and compliance. 

Scholarly Communication Librarian/Relationship Manager, Research Support, University of Michigan Business School, 2000-2002.  Assisted faculty, Ph.D.s and other researchers with scholarly communication and issues related to publication, research, grants, intellectual property/copyright, and privacy.  Significant projects:  Guided the development of a research web presence, acquired faculty working papers to include on the web, instituted and wrote “lay summaries” of faculty research for print and web publications, improved human subject compliance, explored new avenues for research opportunities, participated in campus-wide copyright education, and improved human subject compliance.

Director, Kresge Business Administration Library, University of Michigan Business School, 1994-2000.  Responsible for leadership in providing information for research and teaching to the faculty, students, and staff of the University of Michigan Business School, including primary clientele in global learning sites.  Directed the planning, development, and management of daily operations ($2M budget; 30FTE staff; 40,000 sq.ft. facility).  Significant projects during directorship:  Initiated five year vision/plan; acquired/delivered significant amount of electronic information; re-designed physical space for an Electronic Library and improved layout; fostered web presence, electronic reserves/course management and table of contents; facilitated remote access (1995), e-mail and chat reference, fully-digitized working papers, smart card technology for purchases, fees, etc.  Appointed by Dean as intellectual property expert for the School.

Manager, Technical Services and Automation, Kresge Business Administration Library, University of Michigan, 1988-1994.  Responsible for automation planning and implementation (Innovative), retrospective conversion, acquisitions, cataloging, process, serials check-in, and preservation of materials. 

Head, Systems Dept.; Interim Librarian, Systems & Planning, Leddy Library, University of Windsor, Windsor, Ontario, Canada, 1985-1988.  Responsible for automation planning and implementation (NOTIS).

Head, Cataloging Dept., Leddy Library, University of Windsor, 1980-1985.  Responsible for cataloging and processing of materials in all formats, including conversion to AACR2, recon, and preservation, including unique pamphlets related to the War of 1812.

Coordinator of Extramural Library Services, Leddy Library, University of Windsor, 1976-1979.  Responsible for services to off-campus students, including establishing agreements with community libraries local to the distance sites, and providing materials, equipment, and reference support.

New Faculty Grant. Grant received 2006. Value: $1,800 plus release time. Purpose: To complete research for the writing of a monograph to launch a larger project related to the conditions of academic women on university campuses in the United States .

Faculty Support Grant. Grant received 2007. Value: $8,580. Co-Principal Investigator with Kyzyl Fenno-Smith. Purpose: To purchase software and related equipment to research, experiment, and create various modules for the re-design of the LIBY 1210 information literacy course and other information literacy modules and to hire student staff assistance for the technical aspects of creating these modules.
