Reference Sources In-class Activity.  Developed by Judy Clarence, librarian.

Each student receives a slip of paper with a reference question on it.  In addition, each student also receives a reference book.  The students are to examine their reference book for about five minutes.  Then the instructor directs each student to read the question on their slip of paper.  The other students determine if they have the reference book that answers the question read by the student.  The student who has the correct source is asked to describe the reference book and to find the answer to the question.  Below is a sample list of the questions asked.  The reference book where the answer can be found is also noted, with the local call number.
