Faculty Carrel User GuidelinesThe University Library at California State University, East Bay, has a limited number of study carrels available for faculty use. Thirteen (13) are available for general faculty use and two (2) are available for visiting faculty use. Application Process and TimetableApplications are accepted at the University Library Circulation Desk from June 1 - August 31 of each year.
An application form is available on the web through the library home page or directly at: http://www.library.csueastbay.edu/policies/faculty_carrel_use_form.htm. When there are more applications than carrels available, a random selection of applicants will be made on the third Monday in September, creating a list of faculty for carrels and a "wait" list. Priority will be given to faculty who have not had a carrel during the previous year. Selected applicants will be notified after the selection process is complete, and must acknowledge acceptance of the carrel within five (5) business days; otherwise, they will be notified that the carrel is no longer available and will be offered to the next faculty member on the wait list. Once carrels are assigned and acknowledged, faculty members will be able to check out carrel keys at the Circulation Desk during the last week of June. Carrels are available from Oct. 1 - mid-September each year. Faculty members will be asked to vacate carrels in mid-September so that the carrels may be cleaned and re-issued to the following year's faculty members. Guidelines for Use
