The
Library's Media Collections:
To access the Library's media
collections:
- Students may use media materials in our
Listening/Viewing
Area.
- Faculty can check-out video materials for use in
the classroom.
- Faculty may book video programs in advance
of an anticipated showdate by calling x53770 [510-885-3770] during regular
Library hours.
- Videos or other formats can be checked out
by faculty at the Media/Reserve Desk, in the Upper Mall Lobby of the Main Library.
If you wish to browse
the holdings of the media collections:
Using the telnet version of HAYSTAC:
- you can use a word or other search, then
simply limit the results [which include all formats, including
books] by where the materials are located in the Main
Library:
- choose L for limit,
- then F for the Media Collection, or G
for the Music Collection,
- then F to "find."
- You may also limit (modify) by Material Type (e.g., Sound
Recording, or Music, Printed).
Using the graphical web
version of HAYSTAC, you can perform the same search limiting of
results.
Useful Search Tip:
to get a list of feature films on video, use the search string
"feature film" under the Word Search from the Main Menu, then
limit using L, W, E, F (see above).
Note: Faculty
requests for media purchases are handled by the Subject
Area Librarian for a given department. If you have a research or other
subject-related question, we encourage faculty to consult with their
subject area liaison, regardless of format. For example, if you have a
reference question relating to the Music Collection, you should contact Judy
Clarence, the Library's Music Department Liaison.
