Nahmen and Elene Jensen
Parents of the Immigrant

Nahmen Jensen Sr. (1815-1871) was the third child of Jens Christian Jensen on the island of Fohr. At the age of 20, he went to work on the farm of Jens and Tadt Rickerts Volkert and two years later married their eldest daughter, Elene Osine Volkert (1820-1903). The couple became the parents of the Jensen brothers who immigrated to California in 1860 and 1864. Nahmen and Elene had ten children (see linksbelow), and they all came to California (two children died in infancy).
